Here we go with this year’s MTV Hottest MCs list and this year of this year Wale finds himself at the no.10 spot on the controversial list.
The criteria to be considered a Hottest MC are based on a combination of impact, buzz, sales, lyrics, swag and the intangibles. Mr. Folarin pretty much touched on them all. He performed with the Maybach crew on shows like “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” finally getting his mainstream shine. With the right support system behind him, Wale began to prep his sophomore album, but he teased it with another excellent mixtape, The Eleven One Theory, in August 2011. In addition to proving that he was still a very talented lyricist, singles like “Bait” reinforced the fact that he’d finally found a sound that would appeal to a wider audience.
Some more behind the scenes footage for you folks today. Check out the on set footage of French Montana, Diddy, Wale and Rick Ross for their “Shot Caller” remix. Official video coming really soon!
Wale chopped it up with Boi-1da.net, where he briefly discussed the now defunct SOPA situation, making music based on his mood, his feelings on Common’s “Sweet” record, and future projects he has in the works.
“The more I get involved in it or think about stuff like that the more I take away from the music, so I just kinda let the world be the world. Ya know what I’m sayin’ and like keep my mouth shut if I’m not all the way knowin’ exactly what’s going on. I just know that I want to continue to make music and give it to the people for free and then if it’s good enough when it’s time for it to be sold they’ll go out and support it. I’m a fan of the mode that it is now, we have to work harder than they prolly did in the 90′s, but that’s the price we pay.”
